You have called a drain cleaning service, a plumber, an electrician, a roofing contractor or a chimney sweep for an urgent repair and you find the price excessive? If the prices were not clearly communicated in advance, you have the right to dispute that price. The same applies if the repairs were not carried out properly.

You may state to the repairman that you will not pay immediately. Even if the contractor’s website states that you must pay on the spot, you are not obligated to do so. Ask for an invoice, that way you are able to dispute the amount later on.

If the repairman pressures you, it is best to call the police.
