Accessibility of (Online) Services
The European Accessibility Act (EAA) is a European directive aimed at making certain products and services more accessible to people with disabilities. It imposes common accessibility requirements, including for websites, mobile applications, ATMs, online banking services, e-books, and transport services.
Companies that offer consumer banking or e-commerce services must ensure their services are simple and directly accessible.
- Information on concluding, executing, or terminating a contract must be clear, understandable, and easy to find.
- This information must also be available in two different formats (e.g. text and audio, or text and image).
- In addition, all non-text content (such as images, videos, graphs...) must be accompanied by a perceivable alternative, such as descriptive text or subtitles.
You can find more information about the accessibility of consumer banking services and e-commerce services on the FPS Economy website. There, you will also find a list of competent authorities for products and other related services.
