Regret After Taking Out an Insurance Contract (Right of Withdrawal)

If you recently purchased insurance with a term of more than 30 days and regret it, you have the right to cancel the insurance policy without giving any reason and without charge within 14 days (30 days for life insurance). That period begins the day after the insurer receives your policy or insurance application.

That withdrawal right does not apply to:

  • travel and luggage insurance,
  • similar insurance contracts with a term of less than one month,
  • life insurance contracts tied to an investment fund.

Your insurer must promptly act on your request to cancel your insurance.
